A series groups several books that share one world: their characters, places and lore live in a single worldbuilding library that every book in the series can use.
Create a series
On the Author Dashboard, click + New Project.
Under Project Type, select Series. The dialog starts on Standalone Book, so this step matters.
Fill in the form. Only the Title is required. You can also add a description, genre and tags, and change any of them later.
Click Create Series.
Next: add your books
Your series appears on the dashboard. Click Open Project Workspace on its card to open the Series Hub, then use + Add Book under Books in this Series. See Creating a New Book for the full steps.
Moving a book into or out of a series
Started a book on its own and now want it in a series? You can add an existing book to one of your series, or take a book out of its series, from the book's Settings. Only the book's owner can do this.
Add a book to a series
Open the book's workspace and, on its home page, click Settings.
In the Series panel, under Add this book to a series, choose one of your series and click Add to series.
The dialog tells you what will happen. Click Add to series to confirm, or Cancel.
When the book joins the series:
It becomes the series' next book, for example Book 3. The dialog shows the number before you confirm.
Its worldbuilding moves into the series' shared library, which every book in the series uses. Pins, links from your planner and relationships come with it. Nothing is merged, so if the book and the series both have a character with the same name, you'll see both.
Anyone collaborating on the book can also see the series and its worldbuilding.
A title page made with the form gets its series line, such as "Book 3 of The Crucible Cycle".
The example series, The Crucible Cycle, holds only its sample book, so it isn't offered. If you don't have a series yet, the panel says so. Create the series first (see above), then come back to the book's Settings.
Take a book out of its series
Open the book's Settings. The Series panel shows where it sits, for example "Book 2 of The Crucible Cycle".
Click Take out of the series. Read the dialog, then click Take out of the series again to confirm.
The book becomes a standalone book. Its chapters, planner and settings stay as they are, and the series' timeline events assigned to it come with it. Collaborators on the book stop seeing the series, unless they also work on another of its books.
The series keeps its worldbuilding, because its other books use it, so the book leaves with no worldbuilding of its own. If it's the series' only book, the dialog offers to take the series' worldbuilding with it instead. That box is ticked to begin with; untick it to leave the worldbuilding with the series.
